Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are thin facings of tooth-colored porcelain that slip over a tooth to improve its appearance. At Sansome Dental we use these veneers as one of the most easy and esthetic ways to cover imperfections such as chips, permanent stains and even crooked teeth. Usually, it takes two visits to complete the process. Depending on your teeth, Dr. Joyce may or may not need to remove a layer of tooth enamel so that the veneer can be more easily bonded to the tooth.

Once this is completed Dr. Joyce will take impressions of your teeth and send them to a dental laboratory where the veneers are produced. At your second appointment the newly created veneers will be bonded into place. Dr. Joyce uses a high quality tooth colored porcelain that is valued for both its beauty and durability.

Teeth Whitening

We're often asked about the proper color of teeth. The natural white color of your teeth should be similar to the white of your eye. Often habits such as coffee, tea or wine drinking, smoking, or eating heavily pigmented fruits like blueberries can darken our teeth. Also, teeth may be discolored from medications, decay or build up.

While you may be brushing, flossing, using mouthwash, and even whitening strips, you may still want to enhance your color with professional bleaching. Over the counter whitening products may lead to uneven distribution of bleach that can burn your gums and leave some teeth whiter than others. Many people also find they develop sensitivity when whitening.

In-House Bleaching

Dr. Joyce custom tailors the type of bleach, intensity and duration of the bleaching program to get you the comfortable results you want in the time you need. We will discuss your needs to discover whether you need a quick lift of color for a special occasion, like a wedding, or if you need a long-term solution for a brighter lifestyle. We offer in-office and at-home whitening packages with custom made trays to fit your teeth exactly.

Our office is now proud to offer Zoom! Whitening. This is the whitening system you’ve been waiting for. Not only do you have immediate results plus maximum shades you have minimal sensitivity. Everyone wants whiter teeth but many have tried different systems only to experience unsatisfactory results and discomfort due to sensitivity.

Zoom! is the only whitening formula with the power of three:

ACP (amorphous Calcium Phosphate) to help protect enamel and reduce sensitivity.
Potassium nitrate to help desensitize and maximize patient comfort.
Fluoride show to help prevent tooth decay.

Philips Zoom! White Speed (an LED accelerator light) helps to activate the 25% hydrogen peroxide gel that is applied to your teeth. Your lips and cheeks are retracted and a “liquid dam” is painted on to protect your gums. Three 15 – minute sessions of light activated whitening come next in one visit.

While your teeth are being whitened our assistant will fabricate whitening trays from impressions she will have taken of your teeth at the beginning of your appointment.

After the procedure you will be given the trays and a whitening kit which contains one syringe of take home whitening solution (14% hydrogen peroxide) and one syringe of Relief ACP gel

We recommend you wear the trays with the whitening solution for 15 minutes twice a day for about 14 days.

If there is any sensitivity you can wear the trays with the Relief ACP gel for 10-30 minutes, once per day for 2-3 days.

You can purchase more get at any time for biannual touch ups or if you want even whiter teeth!

Take-Home Whitening

Impressions of your teeth will be taken and you will come back to pick up your whitening trays and patient kit. Day White Maximum White is a 14% hydrogen peroxide you place in your trays and wear 15 minutes twice daily. Optimal results within 2 weeks.
